Parent and guardian information
Moderation and content controls
This page summarizes the controls a parent or legal guardian can review before or after deciding whether to approve a SYR request.
Effective August 13, 2026
The private consent request shows the exact policies and controls the parent is approving. If it differs from this summary, do not approve and contact Support.
Available controls
Reporting
Users can report accounts, posts, media, and messages for safety review.
Blocking
Users can block another account to stop protected contact and interaction.
Content moderation
When enabled, content may be checked automatically and sent to authorized people for limited review under the Safety Rules.
Connection controls
Friend-of-Friend, Contacts, Nearby, and QR discovery are user-initiated connection paths with account controls.
Message controls
Users can control conversations and can block or report unsafe messaging.
Chronological feed
The current feed is chronological and is not ranked using the minor user’s app-store age signal.
Current policy bundle
- Terms — active legal version 2026-08-16
- Privacy Policy — active legal version 2026-08-16
- Safety Rules — active legal version 2026-08-16
The controlling eligibility policy and parent permission bundle remain unchanged. Those historical artifacts are not rewritten when the separately versioned legal release changes.
Ohio written confirmation
For an Ohio user age 13–15, SYR sends a written confirmation after KWS Parent Verification and parent approval. The account does not depend on proving that the email reached the inbox.
What these controls do not promise
Screening and safety controls can miss harmful content or flag permitted content. Connections do not prevent screenshots or conduct outside SYR. The service is not an emergency or crisis service, and no control creates a right to inspect a minor user’s private messages.
Withdraw consent
A parent or legal guardian may withdraw consent through the parent-consent withdrawal route using the provided withdrawal code. Withdrawal restricts the account while reconsent or deletion is completed; there is no manual eligibility bypass or grace-period override.
