Age rules vary by state. Use the place where you primarily live.

U.S. territories are not available in the initial beta. Anyone under 13 is ineligible everywhere.

Minimum age: 13
SYR checks the birth date entered during eligibility.
Nebraska
Minimum age: 18
SYR checks the birth date entered during eligibility. There is no parent-consent path for anyone under 18.
Ohio
Minimum age: 13
Ages 13–15 need a parent or legal guardian to complete KWS Parent Verification, approve SYR's consent request, and explicitly accept the current Terms; SYR must send the written confirmation, and the minor user must separately assent. Ages 16+ use the birth-date check.
Mississippi
Minimum age: 13
Ages 13–17 need a parent or legal guardian to complete KWS Parent Verification, confirm the relationship and that the minor user is at least 13, approve the request, and explicitly accept the current Terms; the minor user must separately assent. Adults must complete Persona's 18-or-older check.
Tennessee
Minimum age: 18
Anyone under 18 is not eligible. Adults must complete Persona's 18-or-older check.
Texas
Minimum age: 13
Ages 13–17 must use the age information and approval route provided by the store where SYR was installed. On Apple devices, that includes a qualifying Declared Age Range and the applicable Apple-controlled App Store download process. On Android, it includes a current qualifying Google Play Age Signals result. If a required result is missing, no longer current, or withdrawn, access stays restricted.

Age checks are designed to minimize data
The eligibility flow may ask for a complete birth date so it can place someone in the right age group. SYR does not save the full birth date to a profile, regular app records, routine logs, or analytics. It keeps the state, age group, result, type of check, and dates needed to apply the rule.
When Apple, Google, KWS, or Persona performs a check, SYR keeps the minimum result it needs. SYR does not keep identity documents, selfies, biometric templates, precise location, or the provider's full response as part of the eligibility record. A parent email is used only long enough to complete the KWS or confirmation step and is not kept in SYR's account, support, analytics, or backup records. The companies that help deliver these steps may process limited information under their own terms.
If a required check cannot be completed
SYR keeps the account restricted and offers a retry when a required result is missing, expired, unclear, or withdrawn. Support cannot manually approve an account or replace a required parent, provider, Apple, or Google step.
For Ohio ages 13–15, the confirmation counts as sent when the email service accepts it for delivery. That is not proof it reached the inbox, and later delivery tracking is not a separate eligibility requirement.
KWS verifies the adult taking part in the adopted Ohio and Mississippi parent flows. It does not determine the minor user's age or prove the family relationship; SYR asks for those confirmations and the parent's Terms acceptance separately, and the minor user must separately assent. This is not a nationwide parent-consent path. For Persona, SYR briefly decrypts and reads the protected provider response, saves only whether the 18-or-older check passed and the limited reference and timing needed to apply it, then discards the full response. Persona controls its verification method. SYR does not retain identity evidence such as a document, selfie, name, birth date, or exact age.
Texas uses only the official Apple or Google route for the device. A parent, support agent, or another verification company cannot substitute for a missing platform result.
An existing account that needs a new check can still reach eligibility help, account deletion, policies, support, recovery, and sign out while ordinary app access is restricted.
